Curtis Pritchard apologises for Stand Up and Deliver routine

Curtis Pritchard has issued an apology for his comedy routine on Channel 4’s Stand Up and Deliver special.

In support of Stand Up to Cancer, the Love Island 2019 finalist joined various other famous faces to try his hand at being a comedian, but the bulk of his material seemed to inspire offence rather than chuckles.

Responding to the audience’s reaction on the AJ vs Curtis podcast, Curtis shared his regret.

“I just want to quickly say… I recently took part in the Stand Up to Cancer initiative with Channel 4 where I was challenged to become a stand-up comedian,” he began.

“Some of the jokes, they missed the mark, they were completely off-track and went too far and I didn’t realise that at the time, but I realise it now and I just want to apologise to everybody and anybody that I have offended.

“It was never intentional at all, it really really wasn’t,” he went on.

“It was a great, great show to be a part of and I was very fortunate to be able to take part, but I just want to apologise and say I am sorry for the jokes.

“I think everything missed the mark, so I do apologise,” added the Love Island star.

Curtis previously defended his jokes, saying that Channel 4 cut out some of his funnier moments.

“I was watching [the show] on Thursday night and I know I wasn’t the funniest, I know I wasn’t the best, but I am telling you I was better than what they showed on that night,” he said on a previous episode of his podcast.

“Or they just showed the worst bits – sorry Channel 4! It was a great show though.”

AJ chimed in to add: “I do feel a bit sorry for you because I felt like the jokes that I accepted and were quite funny were not shown on TV, and the jokes that I a little bit cringed at were shown on TV.”

While his comedy performance didn’t go down so well, Curtis and his brother AJ will be hoping for better reviews when they make their acting debut on Hollyoaks this spring.

Curtis also recently appeared on Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion.
