Michael Che was technically on Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live to chat up his new sketch display. No, not Saturday Night time Reside, which is the reverse of new, but, instead, the outspoken comic’s other sketch business, the aptly titled That Damn Michael Che on HBO Max. And when Che and Kimmel did get around to conversing about Che’s secondary outlet for jokes about everything from nude dudes on the New York subway to that damn political correctness that keeps pointing out when Che does or says anything crappy, the job interview was hijacked, practically from the begin, by the nosy self-promoter he’s being with.

Che, at the moment hanging out in a certain Ohio modest city, is on hand to execute at a humble, cornfield-set comedy location operated by some person named Dave. Thankfully, this Dave, with an album address placard promoting his other project (the podcast The Midnight Miracle), turns out to have impeccable comedian timing, as his intermittent but incessant pop-ins derailed factors in the most entertaining manner possible. Che and Kimmel did their most effective to retain their chat on place, but each anecdote only impressed that damn Dave to hold slipping in from the side of the monitor with a topper of his very own. “I noticed Colonel Sanders’ ghost one particular night!,” Dave burst in to exclaim on Che telling Kimmel about the 200-yr-aged rural Ohio hotel Che’s remaining at although executing at Dave’s comedy cornfield. Che did coin the title “Camp David” for the COVID-impressed remote stand-up event, which is very stable.

Che managed to get in a several stories about himself and his new show here and there, and joked that guest star and earlier Weekend Update anchor Colin Quinn is, by significantly, his favourite Colin. (Che reassured the earth, 1 additional time, that he and Update spouse Colin Jost are truly the ideal of mates, no make a difference how many situations Che makes Jost study out self-incriminating racist jokes on SNL.) Continue to, Kimmel’s in-house group was clearly primed for the future Chappelle cameo (for ’tis Dave Chappelle we’re chatting about), and the sketch comedy legend and sometime Saturday Night time Dwell host, like a genuine comedy assassin, kept slaying. “Don’t reply that, Michael!,” an alarmed-wanting Chappelle broke in to blurt, in reaction to Kimmel questioning the premise of a That Damn Michael Che sketch about the Black local community assuming “you did some thing gay” to become famous.

And though viewers of Che’s sketch clearly show will have to judge whether that is as sketchy a premise as it may sound in passing, there’s definitely no debate about regardless of whether each individual late-night time Zoom job interview would be spruced up if there were a Dave Chappelle lurking about the edges, waiting to pounce. Kimmel did his ideal to continue to keep matters shifting forward, but even Che appeared delighted that he was enjoying second fiddle in his own look. As well as, it wallpapered about how Che has been famously trolling just one of Kimmel’s previous writers in the comic’s marketing campaign of currently being one thing of a jerk to anyone who dares criticize him. (And Chappelle’s beef with Che’s patrons at HBO Max.) Following Kimmel at last gave up and provided the parting spotlight for Chappelle to endorse something he desired, Dave demurred, telling the host, “You know what, Jimmy, because you explained it like that, no.”
