Leaked Motorola Razr 3 images reveal an upgraded camera and a boxier design

A pair of leaked visuals from responsible leaker Evan Blass (by way of 91Mobiles) presents us a very first glimpse at what appears to be a tests product of the third generation Motorola Razr. The device, codenamed Maven, notably properties two upgraded cameras on its again: a 50MP f / 1.8 major sensor and a 13MP sensor for macro and extremely-broad photographs.

In the graphic of the unit totally closed, you are going to notice that it appears to have lost its “chin,” or the lip that extended outward in preceding iterations of the product. It looks like it folds about on by itself to type a square shape when it’s shut, deviating from both equally the modern-day remakes of the unit and its first design.

Blass also notes that the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the electricity button, which is very likely on the aspect of the product. Motorola previously placed the fingerprint sensor on the chin of the 2019 Razr, and then moved it to the again of the machine for the 5G-upgraded Razr it produced in 2020. Equally placements weren’t precisely perfect — The Verge’s former executive editor, Dieter Bohn, described its placement on the back of the machine as an “awkward spot to arrive at,” and stated placing it on the chin compelled him to open the phone with two hands.

Blass suggests the Razr 3 arrives with an FHD+ interior folding exhibit and a gap-punch 32MP selfie camera. (You can check out the impression of the device’s inside screen over at 91Mobiles.) Motorola is rumored to release a regular variation of the product with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 system-on-a-chip (SoC), alongside with a “Plus” variant, presumably with an upgraded, but as-but-unfamiliar, chip. As for storage, it is meant to come with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of inner storage.

With its boxier style and twin digital camera sensors, it looks like Motorola is gearing up to contend with Samsung’s flagship foldable: the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The initially two Razr reboots weren’t just the most impressive — the 2019 system came with a $1,499 price tag tag and numerous flaws, like a lumpy display, creaky hinge, and subpar digital camera. Motorola’s next iteration wasn’t a lot greater and the addition of 5G however didn’t justify its $1,399 price tag.

In line with an announcement from a Lenovo govt in December (Lenovo bought out the cellular brand name in 2014), the third era Razr is rumored to start in China in July or August. There is no word on a launch day outside the house of China, however. The Verge reached out to Motorola with a ask for for comment but didn’t right away listen to back.
