The South Orange Doing Arts Heart proudly offers the award-winning Nai-Ni Chen dance company in a 60-moment digital presentation Saturday, April 10 at 7:30PM. Sponsored by the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Corporation has received much more than 20 awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and numerous Citations of Excellence and grants from the New Jersey Point out Council on the Arts.
Bridging the grace of Asian magnificence and American dynamism, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company is a premier provider of ground breaking cultural experiences that reflect the hope and vitality of the immigrant’s journey. The company’s ground-breaking functions have targeted on themes from historical Chinese legends that mirror troubles of the current time to purely abstract, up to date dances motivated by the art of Chinese calligraphy. An Asian-American company that celebrates the cross-cultural encounter, the Company’s productions bring forth problems of identification, authenticity, and equality.
The highlighted dances include two globe premieres alongside with two works made in 2019. The software will also element an interview with Nai-Ni Chen by renowned dance critic Robert Johnson. To create this dance, Nai-Ni Chen used improvisation and her qualifications in standard Chinese theatrical movement and several styles of martial art to collaboratively create this piece.
