Tickets still available as crews prepare Indianapolis for WonderRoad music festival

WonderRoad music and arts festival will soon take over Garfield Park in the heart of Indianapolis, and organizers spent the week preparing three stages and thousands of square feet of venue space for what they hope will be perennial fixture going forward.

“People should expect to see an incredible two days of music — 28 bands in total — and one of the best festival lineups in America,” said Denny Young, president of Elevation Group, which organized the event in partnership with Indy Parks and local promoter MOKB Presents.

Indie rockers Vampire Weekend and Lord Huron will headline on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with Chvrches, Bastille, Milky Chance and Hippo Campus also slated to perform.

Hippo Campus was a late addition to the lineup, replacing Bishop Briggs.

Zachary Benson, a member of the Elevation Festivals team, hangs signage on an outside fence Thursday, June 9, 2022, in preparation for the upcoming WonderRoad Music Festival at Garfield Park in Indianapolis on Saturday and Sunday. "This part sometimes can take a day, or it can take an hour," he said as The Doors played on an portable speaker from his golf cart. "We just play tunes and jam out as we get it done." Benson has worked on Elevation's operations team for four years, traveling from festival to festival.

“It will be easy access, a chill vibe, incredible music and awesome weather,” Young said.

Organizers are crossing their fingers for clear skies on Saturday and Sunday, as rain is expected all day Friday. As of Wednesday evening, there was only a slight chance of rain for the weekend.

Young also stressed Indianapolis’ oldest park will be thoroughly cleaned following the festival.

“The sites we use for our other festivals in Cleveland, Columbus and Pittsburgh are spotless when we leave, and we assume Indy will be, too,” he said.

The festival will also include local food and drink, including vegan and vegetarian options.

WonderRoad is one of two new festivals attempting to take hold in Indianapolis this year. The All IN Music & Arts Festival, announced in May, will run its weekend event from Sep. 3-4.

How to get tickets to WonderRoad Festival

Single-day and weekend tickets were still available, starting at $119.50 and $199.50, as of Wednesday night.

Kids passes (ages 3-10) are $39.50 for a single day and $59.50 for the weekend. Weekend VIP passes are $250 for children, $475 for adults.

The festival is expected to sell out. Young said Tuesday less than 600 tickets remained. A full house would be 10,000 people each day, he added.
