Animated Filmmaking 101: Preventing Yourself from Making Mistakes 

When starting out in the animated film industry, everyone grows from their mistakes and develops their own aesthetic sense of filmmaking. However, the first few years might be difficult, even embarrassing because you are likely to make several mistakes. 

If you are an aspiring animated filmmaker who is about to enter the industry, here are a few common mistakes you will likely encounter during the first few years in the professional world. 

Lack of Preparation 

It is crucial that you should be prepared when making animated movies – but sometimes, directors do not know what exactly they should be prepared for. There are so many things that you need to take care of when it comes to filmmaking after all so make sure you have a list of things you need to be careful of before you start going about the animation process. 

Not Compromising 

Animated filmmaking involves a lot of experimentation and expressing your own individuality – but that does not happen until you have your basics figured out and have experienced a couple of years. 

Filmmaking in general can be messy and crazy and it takes a lot of compromise in the beginning for things to work out. So even though it might not be what you had expected, be open to the idea of compromising where you can and allow yourself to work with other collaborators who have more experience than you. 

It can be quite a hassle to deal with in the beginning but things do work out for the best in the end, just like they did for different animated filmmaking professionals in the professional world. A prime example of such a person is Kim Cameron. 

One of the most impressive things about Kim Cameron is that not only are they a highly acclaimed animated filmmaker, but they have also taken on roles of an actress, singer, and songwriter who has the sound of a 2-time Top Billboard top chart deep house. 

She has toured all over the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, being a part of performances at the National League Marlins Baseball and the Xiamen Music Festival in China – for which she received an International Award for being the only female that has been asked to perform. 

As such, her music has been signed to various agencies all over the world, such as PC Music in Canada, KD Digital in South Korea, Muzika In Store (Croatia), and many more. 

When it comes to her career as a filmmaker, Kim worked on the highly acclaimed musical ‘Her Story’ – which ended up getting a massive positive response from the public. As such, she ended up winning several awards for it which include the New York Screenplay and the Amsterdam Film Festival. 

Moreover, she served as the Director, Producer, and Screenwriter for a full-length animated feature film called the ‘Seaper Powers In Search of Bleu Jay’s Treasure’. Cameron dedicated all her efforts to this film and once it was distributed worldwide, it ended up earning more 30 awards for categories like the Best Screenplay, Best Female Director, Best Soundtrack, Best Animated Feature, and more.
