Mongolia Photograph Journey – July 2022
This excursion experienced at first been planned for July 2020, then COVID transpired. I am eternally grateful that folks hung on to their reservations for two a long time and we were being equipped to have an remarkable excursion!
Our emphasis was cultural, though we did have a quite few wildlife sightings including a critically endangered saiga antelope that galloped previous us in a flash.
We were ready to remain with and photograph the legendary Kazakh eagle hunters and even crashed a wedding day. Near Khovd we went to a conventional pageant known as a nadaam, with dusty, spirited horse races, and beefy wrestlers who designed brief operate of troopers who ended up attending. Finally, as portion of the team split off to photograph the endangered takhi (Przewalski’s horse) I was able to meet with shamans. In the Soviet period, Shamanism (and Buddhism) ended up repressed, but the historic cultural traditions are generating a resurgence.
The huge steppe and arid mountains of Mongolia are wonderful. It is awe-inspiring to witness a rainstorm sweeping throughout the land and passing clouds dapple the hillsides. It is definitely one of the last spots the place a single can sense so compact however invigorated by nature.
